Envisioning a Healthier Future for Ourselves

Envisioning a Healthier Future for Ourselves

So many of us struggling with addiction and mental illness feel stuck in our lives, unable to let go of the past or move forward to create a happier, healthier future for ourselves. We feel consumed by our pain, our intense fear, and our feelings of depression and anxiety. We aren’t able to see beyond our difficult feelings to think about what we want out of life moving forward. When we’re working towards recovery, a helpful exercise we can do is to actively envision a healthier future for ourselves so that we know exactly what we’re working towards. When we can picture our goals, they are easier to implement and work towards.

Visualize yourself living the future you want for yourself. Get as clear and specific with yourself as you can. What things do you want? Where do you want to be? Where would you be living? Who will you be with? How can you live your purpose and feel fulfilled? What things make you feel happy and excited? What things do you need to do in order to heal? What do you need in order to be happy? Take time to answer these questions honestly and openly. Write down anything that comes to you.

Meditate on the happiest, healthiest version of yourself that you can possibly be. The more we actively picture something, the more it gets imprinted on our subconscious mind, enabling ourselves to energetically start working to manifest it. The more we can see ourselves being happy, healthy, fulfilled and successful, the more we will feel that way, and the more we will energetically attract the things, circumstances and relationships that reflect those feelings back to us and that can help us create a new reality for ourselves.

When we’re visualizing our healthier future, we have to give our visualization the energy of our belief as well. Work to believe that you’re capable of manifesting the future you want for yourself. Believe that you deserve everything you want. Believe you’re worthy of the happiness, success, fulfillment and good health you want. Believe you deserve to be free and at peace.

Make your visualization a regular practice. The more you commit time to this practice, the stronger your manifestation power becomes. As you’re working towards the future you now feel you deserve, the elements of your life that aren’t in harmony with that new reality will start to fall away. You’ll start shedding your self-destructive habits. You’ll create new, healthier patterns for yourself. You’ll empower yourself to free yourself from your addictions and dependencies.
