Our Approach
We acknowledge the connectedness of body, mind & spirit, and work to restore wholeness in each area, so the total person can experience true freedom.
Fully Integrated Levels of Care
Inpatient Residential, Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Structured Sober Living treatment. All within the continuum of care, Malibu Beach Center of Wellness brings together evidence-based intervention methods with the support to show addiction and trauma survivors a new way of life in environment.
Our eclectic treatment model integrates the healing of impulsive chemical (drug and alcohol) and process (relationship, food, gambling, sex, co-dependency, spending etc.) addictions with the latest evidence-based anxiety/depression, trauma-informed care third wave therapies. Our treatment model’s emphasis on trauma informed care, heavily assimilates harmful impulsive behaviors with issues of attachment and poor stress regulation.
We work with clients on multiple planes of understanding–in that each client has their own unique history. The story each client has integrated into their reality is perceived as a useful schema to aid in their needs being met. Whether these overwhelming needs are re-enforced by the pleasure center’s irresistible urge to feel better or trauma induced narcissistic wounding, overtime these stories can distort perception and lead to heavily entrenched maladaptive traits of character or behaviors. This narrowly focused sense of self creates an irreplaceable need for harmful impulsive behaviors due to poor affect regulation and sense of self. Compassion is needed and provided for those who lack insight into their harmful compulsive behaviors and don’t know that they don’t know–and can’t see–that they can’t see. Our clinical team creates an individualized care plan that integrates client strengths, resources, connection and inner space to facilitate clients goal attainment. Self-determination and forms of motivational interviewing are key in our treatment to challenge layers of denial. We believe in the empowerment of our clients, taking responsibility for their lives and them being a present, integral part of the change in their perception of relationships and the world around them. The center for wellness gives them the tools–to give them the choice
Addiction Assessment is the keystone in determining the needs of our clients. American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) assessment and motivational interviewing is the basis of substance abuse determination of client level of care, detoxification needs, stages of change, treatment planning and aftercare.
Addiction is not theoretical, it is a very intense experience. Recovery happens where radical experience intersects with self-determination and one taking full-responsibility for their life. That is makes our clients whole again.
Our multidimensional treatment model is ubiquitous in the dialectic of treating trauma symptoms that have resulted from traumatic circumstances that is beyond one’s cope and control during the early development of self.
Intensive trauma treatment at the Center for Wellness provides interventions that address the needs of young-elderly adults and families impacted by chronic exposure to trauma, from acute incidents such as accidents and assaults to severe experiences of childhood emotional, physical and sexual abuse, neglect and traumatic loss. The innovative treatment we bring to our clients focuses on resiliency, resources and strengths, and supports core components of safety and self-regulation, traumatic memory processing and attachment with self and others. Our concentrations are the treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex PTSD, Developmental Trauma Disorder (DTD), Dissociative Disorders and related conditions.
